Does Arthritis and Stress go hand in hand?

Arthritis is a form of joint disorder that involves inflammation of one or more joints. There are many forms of arthritis but the most common form is osteo arthritis. Osteo arthritis is a condition where the joints are out of place and start to wear out, or there is a nutrient deficiency.

Another common type is rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto immune disease where the linings of the joint capsules in the bones become inflamed and swollen, and the body actually starts attacking itself. 1% of all population are affected, and women are 2-3 times more likely to have it. It is a rapidly growing disease.

Many people have been able to cure themselves naturally and I would like to bring to your attention the work of Dr John Bergman. Dr Bergman is a chiropractor from California who spent a lot of time studying arthritis and the bodies ability to heal itself.

After a near fatal accident he was left with two broken legs, no teeth and a fractured scull. Being told he might not be able to walk again propelled him into studying human anatomy in detail, human potential and the bodies ability to regenerate. He stresses the fact that the human body is not designed for help.

Our bodies are in a constant state of repair and we are able to heal naturally. If we take a look at the relation between blood and bone formation we can see the bigger picture and begin connect the dots and determine how we can reverse arthritis naturally.

So, what exactly are the functions of blood? The functions of blood is to supply oxygen to tissues, to supply nutrients like glucose, amino acids and fatty acids to cells, and to remove toxic waste like carbon dioxide, urea, and lactic acid.

How do we eliminate toxic waste? By movement. Healthy fluid transfer happens every time you move your joints. Sedentary lifestyle and office jobs can lead to movement deficiency syndrome. Lymph fluid that is not moved everyday becomes stagnant, which then leads to toxic build up.

So how does this relate to bones? Well, joints are basically two bones meeting together by a joint capsule, filed with cartilage, and synovial fluid. What is synovial fluid? Its super filtrated blood. So the health of the joint is dependant on the health of the blood going into the joint.

If we are not eliminating properly then we become toxic, leading to poor nutrient supply to bones, and joint ache.

What happens when we eat unhealthy and lead an unhealthy lifestyle? Well, a diet high in refined carbohydrates, sugar, GMO and processed food would be very detrimental to our health. Polyunsaturated fats like soybean oil, corn flour oil, grape-seed and sunflower oil cause blood to become sticky. As the blood becomes more sticky it holds less oxygen.

This causes the blood pressure to go up. Blood pressure drugs like warfarin are given to chemically force the pressure down low, however this is working against the bodies natural process as the body as the high pressure is actually an adaptation to keep the high level of oxygen in the system! So as we see, this poor diet leads to nutrient deficiency and unhealthy blood, poor tissue formation, thus causing arthritic changes.

So what happens when we turn to conventional western medicine? NSAIDS inhibit protein production, and destroy the building blocks of cartilage. Joint pain is symptom NOT a problem. It is a clue that the body is in a toxic state and we should not be masking these signs with painkillers.

Toxic therapies like Tylenol mask the symptoms, however, the body is still in stress response – the brain just does not know this! So imagine your body being in a state of stress but you not knowing because you are on so many anti inflammatory drugs…scary!

We all know stress can have a detrimental effect on us, because increased cortisol means decreased digestion and decreased digestion equals inflammation and ill health – leading to even more ill health! Painkillers that are used for joint disorders also go against the bodies natural process by causing liver an kidney damage. If people have arthritis for different reasons whey are we all given the same medicine?

So how can arthritis sufferers help to cure themselves naturally? Well of course we can see that it is vital to have a healthy plant based diet full of anti oxidants and healthy lifestyle in order to have healthy blood. But we must also remember that our bodies are not designed for help.

How many scratches, bruises, or colds have you had in a lifetime? And you are still alive…Im sure you can’t count! You must not forget the body is designed to repair and can heal itself naturally if you give it the appropriate time and feed it the healthiest nutrients. Thats why you have an immune system.

We must change our perception and remember that the more we use our body, the longer it works. The more we realise our human potential and change the perception that we can heal naturally, the more we will begin to realise that we can reverse such joint disorders.

Tissue grows. Bones grow. Miniscus can regrow. Scars heal. Be patient – it takes time. When you sleep your body is in repair mode. Remember, blood is about 120 days and our body is in a constant state of repair so old toxic cells can be replaced by new ones in as little as 120 days.

So what natural therapies can you use to help ease the pain? Well we all know that any therapy that is done to maintain our health will have a positive effect on out body. Magnesium flakes used in a hot bath soak are great for people who suffer from joint ache.

Castor oil and Lavender oil are also well know therapies used for joint aches. Massage therapy and hydrotherapy like floatation can be used to distress and ease pain.

A plant based anti inflammatory diet that is high in anti oxidants and high levels of omega 3 essential fatty acids like flaxseeds and oily fish would be beneficial for blood supply.

MSM is used to help joint flexibility, as is glucosamine and L-glutamine. Useful herbs for rheumatoid arthritis are celery seed, black cohosh and gaultheria(wintergreen). Yoga, light exercise, swimming and mediation are all good lifestyle therapies.

So as we see exercise, meditation, proper sleep and rest, and a plant based diet filled with good nutrition, is the key! This leads to good blood supply, formation of healthy tissues and reversal of arthritis and joint disorders!
