3 Reasons to Juice Beetroots

The juice of beetroot is very useful for producing new blood and removing toxins in the bloodstream. It balances the level of pH by reducing the blood acidity levels. The juice also contains iron that removes the toxins from tissue and radicals from the blood cells. You can easily prepare fresh beetroot juice in the best juicer machine available.

Beetroots are a rich source of carbohydrates with no fat. They are a great source of fibre and has built up a reputation throughout Europe that it has anti-carcinogenic properties in the red colouring matter.

It’s not common knowledge that the leaves, which are also edible, are a great source of iron and foliate, along with beta-carotene. Studies are being undertaken to substantiate the claims that beetroot increases the uptake of oxygen by as much as 400 per cent. Beetroot is one of the many vegetables with a range of antioxidants which help to fight various diseases.

When you harvest the leaves ensure that they are crisp and healthy. They make a great addition to salads or you can cook mature leaves.

If you are looking to add folic acid or fibre to your diet then this can be found in the roots of beetroot.

Beetroot can be preserved by fermenting it. Alternatively you can keep them stored in a refrigerator for a couple of months by removing all but a couple of inches off the tops and placing them in an unsealed bag.

You can also juice the beetroot. Beetroot juice is beneficial, because it is high in nitrate content. Use raw beetroot in a juicer; you’ll find that the liquid is a stimulating drink and is also benefical to the digestive system.

A further benefit of drinking beetroot juice, according to research done in the UK at the William Harvey Research Institute at Barts and the London School of Medicine, is that drinking 500ml a day can possibly lower blood pressure. This might be a simple way to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system, and might also be an additional approach that one could take in the modern day battle against rising blood pressure. It is important that you check with your doctor and take his advice.

3 Great reasons to include Beetroot in your everyday diet..

1. Beneficial for the heart

The substantial amount of Betaine in the beetroot juice makes it a great anti-oxidant. It stops the oxidation of LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) which accumulates plaque inside blood vessels. Low levels of oxidized cholesterol protect the blood cells from toxic effects.

2. Contains anti-oxidant properties

A lot of vegetables and other natural food products lose their nutritional value when cooked. For example, when you cook carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, onions etc, all their nutrients evaporate because of high heat. As per medical research, processed foods are short on natural content of calcium and folate by 8 and 30 percent respectively. However, the anti-oxidant content of the beetroots does not evaporate even when cooked on high heat.

3. Folic Acid

The juice is also rich in folic acid which is a vital nutritional element for pregnant women and young children. The vegetable is also rich in proteins, carbohydrates and different vitamins all of which add to the health benefits of drinking the juice.
