Festivals are so much fun!
All your mates together, the lycra, the wigs, the glitter and some of the best times. But let’s face it, a big part of the banter is fuelled by the booze (and the rest). So can you still have all the shameless fun, loads of energy and get super-high to party all-night-long when you no longer drink the hard stuff? This is the question I asked myself.
Deciding to give up drink and become teetotal earlier this year was a long-time coming. I didn’t enjoy it anymore. It just didn’t agree with me, I always felt flat and a bit ‘meh’ the next day, so one day it made sense to stop, and that was it.
But I didn’t assess all scenarios, especially not the ‘sober-Jody-at-a-festival’ one. So when we got Glasto tickets, I was torn. Could I return to the greatest festival in the world, the best music, the best DJs and be knee-deep in the mud…sober? And deal with the long-drop toilets, soggy tent and muddy clothes? I wasn’t sure.
Then it hit me, life doesn’t just stop when you stop drinking. Why shouldn’t I still go? I’d have loads of fun in my own way.
And now i’m back with Glasto done, sober.
How was it? I’m feeling great!!!! I had loads of fun, stayed out late, partied hard, danced till I dropped (literally) and had all the banter to boot.
So how did I do it? Here’s 3 things to help you rock-n-roll:
1) Food boosts: Take instant energy food; Bounce balls, 100% raw cacao, raw chocolate energy balls, broccoli sprouts, superfood powder are all great
2) Instant energy: Do some deep breathing (into the abdomen), speedy morning meditation (just for 15 mins), Tapping on tiredness is so effective for an instant boost (ASK ME MORE)
3) Rest up: Take little bursts of ‘time-out’ alone, to regroup yourself, and have trips back to the tent for a rest
Now there’s no excuse to miss the party. Sober raving is the new trend #consciousclubbing Check out the Morning Glory parties.
Have a great weekend
